Lawrence Stumme is the founding member of Stumme Law Office opening his practice in Denver back in 1978. The son of a minister Lawrence has always had a desire to help those in need. After graduation from high school Lawrence received his undergraduate degree from Wartburg College in 1960. Lawrence then went on to obtain a Bachelors of Divinity from Wartburg Seminary in 1964.
After Graduating from Seminary Lawrence began working as a pastor in Dayton Ohio for eight years. In 1977 Lawrence graduated from Capital University Law School. Lawrence worked as a prosecutor in Columbus Ohio for two years in the city attorney's office.
In 1978 Lawrence and his family moved to Denver Iowa where Lawrence began practicing law out of his home. Stumme Law office soon outgrew the constraints of a home practice and moved over to the old Post Office building. The extra space allowed more room for meeting with clients and potentially adding attorneys to the firm. Lawrence became the Bremer County Attorney as a write in candidate where he served for 12 years. The County Attorney position was part time which allowed Lawrence to continue his private practice.
Lawrence continues to have a desire to work with the residents of Denver and Northeast Iowa. Lawrence holds seats on the Board of Directors at Denver Savings Bank and Denver Sunset Home.
Attorney Epley received his J.D. from Drake Law School in Des Moines in 2009. While at Drake Law School, Ethan was a member and officer in the Agricultural Law Association and an Editor for the Agricultural Law Journal. Ethan earned his undergraduate Bachelor of Science Degree from Iowa State University in 2002 with a major in Agricultural Studies and a minor in Agronomy.
While at Law School in Des Moines Ethan worked for the Beginning Farmers Center located in Urbandale Iowa. While working for the Center Ethan participated in a research project regarding the increased absentee ownership of farm land as well as issues regarding estate planning for the family farm. Ethan also wrote an article entitled "Manure Management Planning" and helped develop the Manure Agreement Decision Making Toolwhich provides farmers a resource to help when developing a manure agreement.
Ethan’'s deep interest in farming and agricultural law comes from his family’'s extensive involvement in agriculture. Ethan grew up on his family's century farm located in Butler and Bremer Counties. His involvement of farming continues today as he helps his father with his farm and has begun farming a small plot of his wife’'s grandparents’' farm in Butler County. Ethan approaches the law in a common sense manner knowing your unique situation requires a unique approach.
